Conceptual Sketch for colour box space
Departing from the ecclesiastical character of Llandaff in Cardiff, the architecture explores the relation between art and religion – both dealing with existential matters. The proposal creates a series of strongly characteristic spaces with the a divine atmosphere that takes the user out of the quotidian and to a space where high art and its messages could be truly contemplated.
Exploded axonometric drawing
Rather than creating a large imposing volume, the proposal manifests the fragmentation of human life, creating a walk throughout the site, alternating long corridors, stop-spaces and exhibition pavilions.
Moonlight room
Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata plays in a long nave like passage, significantly dark, where the narrow sunrays penetrating through the small openings of the slanted walls remain dominant. The space deprives the user from the sense of vision in order to provoke stronger experience of the agitating melody.
